The challenge
For many, being a member of flight crew is an exciting job. But behind the scenes there’s complex logistics. To keep things running smoothly, an entire flight crew has to come together. At Alaska Airlines, pilots and attendants were relying on nearly a dozen disconnected and antiquated systems to manage their workflows, stay up-to-date, and coordinate their efforts, they needed to modernize their flight crew experiences too.

Making a connection for flight crews
To help those that help us get where we are going, we developed an intuitive digital assistant that pulled their separate systems together into one easy-to-use app. Starting with the end users themselves, we dove into what it means to be a member off light crew, interviewing over 100 attendants to understand their workload and hear what they want in an app. We crafted scenarios and personas to guide our efforts and ensure everyone was being heard. And we developed a dynamic, intuitive design system that puts the user first. The result is a more connected flight crew that’s free to focus on what matters most: their passengers.
